Jennifer, I agree that she felt that religion was the constant thing in her life, but we also see that her spirit was starting to break a little.  When she had to go live with her husbands family, I am sure that she felt like life was beating her down.  When she practiced her religion you could tell it gave her hope, but there was always this nagging feeling that another bad thing was going to happen.  --Pam P.
