| + | I found another thing interesting, in being the job health concerns for the bell system women. To think that having limited mobility could cause "miscarriage, eye strain, backaches, [etc.]" (p 276) as well as mental health was kind of a shock, not to mention the risk of toxic chemicals to other new technologies being added to the workplaces like photocopiers and printers as well as the risk of carpal tunnel syndrome. The stress of any job can take a toll on one's body, but to think of all of these hazards and risks, to me it's almost like working in a factory, with the number of risks. African American women seeing the most of this stress, especially on their mental health because of the extreme racism they were still having to deal with, seem to still need to be working their way up the job market. -Claire Brooks | ||
