To add to what was said previously, of course everyone is not going to be happy with the evolution of technology.  A perfect example for today would be everyone ripping music off the internet.  The musicians and record companies are losing so much money over this.  This is causing the record companies to sell more mp3's than cds and it is killing them where it hurts the most, their wallets. -Jeff

Regardless to the efforts made by James Worster and George Young, and the rest of group of large opposition, the Lake Company still was successful in allowing the factories to in Lowell and Lawrence. Even though this ended up being a failure to those who were against the dams, in the closing statement of the article, Steinberg states, “the opposition to its plans is a reminder of the importance of the struggle over nature to industrial capitalism.” This statement alone shows that technological development will happen regardless of measures that people try to go through prevent it. In building the dams, this advancement in technology was needed to take place, regardless of the fact that it’s natural resources were beneficial to factories located in another state. – Megan Gallagher
