I have to agree with the early sentiments regarding the ridiculous character of Scarlett or maybe it’s just the way that Viven Leigh played her, I think that Bette Davis would have portrayed the character a little better. | + | The makeshift hospitals stuck out as very realistic in particular. The shortage of pain meds, the shortage of beds, the brutal amputations, the lack of sanitation, and just cramming people in wherever possible. Calling for Scarlett in the operating room was an unlikely plot device to make her watch the amputation of a man's leg, but other than that, the gruesome hospital seemed dead on. (I just realized that may seem like I sick pun, but I can't think of another phrase at the moment, so you'll have to excuse it and take my word that it wasn't intentional!) -- Cilla | ||
