| + | This was an especially interesting article for me to read. Last year, I attended the United States Naval Academy as a midshipman, with the intent to complete my four years of undergraduate work and be commissioned as an officer. Needless to say, this essay struck a personal note with me. It was interesting to see how roles, perceptions, and outlooks of women in the military have changed over the past 60-70 years. All of the women seem very optimistic and determined, a trait that has not left many females in the military today. There is some hint of discrimination or unhappiness present, though not as much as I expected. These women seem to be concerned with the thrill of being able to participate. And still many of the other issues discussed are still relevant in today's world.--MDvorak | ||
