| + | I think the transition of the office clerk position is very interesting. First it was highly desirable as a male profession then the transition was made and it became a highly desirable female position. I wonder what the reasons were for the switch in gender role assignments. Now in modern society often women are looked down upon for simply performing secretarial work, and if a man did enter in the profession he would probably face ridicule because it is as much a female dominated profession today as it was in the late 19th century--Emma Peck | ||
