| + | I found it interesting that the moral reformers brought the circus into the mix. I can definitely see how they’d take issue with it, but I think they may’ve been overreacting just a tad. The young man who knew the girl, “having heard of the performances of a wonderful animal at the Circus, was induced for once to visit that school of immorality and debauchery (234).” They actually suggest that going to the circus leads to the whorehouse. The young man apparently only went because of his exposure to those shady circus folk. -- Taylor Brann | ||
