I think Emma is funny.  I also find it very endearing that she was very concerned for her sister's matrimonial well-being.  This highlights the new role of women being the nurturing, caring, raising type.  Even as the old sister, she takes on the role of looking out for her younger sister.  I enjoy how she herself ended up being a cougar who enters a doomed marriage. - Christine
