The author made many passing references to things I was unfamiliar with: the Centennial Exhibition of 1876, the Great Upheaval of 1886, boosterism, housing stock. There were also things that I was a little familiar with, but still would have liked a more explanation on, like the Gilded Age, Petit-bourgeois, and the Knights of Labor. -- Rebecca | ||
