I don't have a whole lot of background with Native Americans, though like Celia I took Hudgin's class on 17th c. Colonial History. I did work at Plimoth Plantation this summer and worked occasionally with the Wampanoags there, their native family structure is not entirely dissimilar from that described of the Cherokees prior to assimilation. Other than that I have little knowledge of Native American culture saving what information is presented in grade school and what can be gleaned from popular media. I think this lack of knowledge contributes to a lack of understanding of their culture in the general public. It makes me feel remiss in some ways for not seeking out the knowledge and preserving it in at least and academical sense. -Lacey | I don't have a whole lot of background with Native Americans, though like Celia I took Hudgin's class on 17th c.
