Nye quotes Edison arguing that electricity "could rid the earth of frost, draw in water during a drought, and resist flood throughout immense rainfall". Being able to make his invention "stick" was a large part of Edison's success. He was able to create a new form of light, while making it accessible and maintaining its link to his own name and company. Here we see the difference between Edison and previous inventors - the ability to profit from inventions and create uniform systems that prevail. Being able to to capitalize on entrepreneurial skills, Edison changed industry while benefitting personally as well. | ||
