| + | I have read so many accounts and so many interpretations of the Thomas Jefferson / Sally Hemings saga that I could barely make it through chapter 1. One thing, however, did stick out to me. I felt as if Rothman was discounting the fact that Jefferson was a racist slave owner. I felt as if Rothman gave Jefferson too much credit, as if… “yea he owns slaves, but, he was a founding father, so it is OK.” -Andrew B | ||
