| + | From the other readings we have done, it seems to me that this is pretty representative of the attitudes of the time. The men may not necessarily have been oafish louts that lazed in front of the fire all day, but the women were certainly expected to be ready at beck and call. I think this is certainly an exaggerated view, but since all men were not oafish louts, the idea of watching the women who WERE under-appreciated just continue to take the punishment had to be pretty infuriating for the men who did, in fact, care. -Cash | ||
