It just so happened that Douglas came in during the beginning of a rush order, which prevented him from being taught an individual skill, and instead being assigned as a runner. Also, the article stated that Douglas was a runner along with a group of young white men, the ones who eventually attacked him, thus it is not a job reserved just for a particular race. -Brian Brown |
