I have to agree with Lacey here, Mitz and Kellogg seem to be focusing on just urban and mostly New England area.  They then apply this to the rest of the nation, which is absurd because the rest of the nation is vastly different from New England.  --Ashley Wilkins

I am curious as to how the rural families adapt to the changes that those in cities were facing? Did they change to where the family was mainly supported by the husband as they did in urban areas?  I think that part of the reason the family became so private was the rapid growth of cities. It was easier to have a close family from the community in small towns but as they grew this became harder. --Kellye Sorber
