| + | I thought that the diary of Martha Ballard was extremely interesting. I felt rather sorry for her. Her life, from the diary, seemed so repetitive. Constantly visiting the same people and going to the same events. It is clear from her diary entries that she had no time in the day for herself. She was constantly doing chores or running to people’s houses to help them. She did not fill in her journal everyday and each entry was so small that it appeared she had no time for herself. The diary really helps historians see the daily lives of midwives and nurses. What other female occupations can be tracked with such diaries? -- Talya Halpern | ||
