| + | While I agree with Mintz and Kellogg that the economy, demography, and women's roles have all impacted the nature of American families, as well as Ashley's point concerning technology, I also believe that women's increased access to education has had a large impact on the nature of families. While Mintz and Kellogg frequently refer to an increase in the number of career women, they do not mention the advancements in education over the past 300 years. I believe that as women were permitted to seek higher education they become more self-sufficient and less reliant on their male counterparts. As a senior in college, I can appreciate the advancements that have been made in women's education and do not view it as having had a negative impact on the family. --Sarah Gardner | ||
