Cathy Tuley's involvement in organizing clerical workers helped her personal development by becoming more assertive and self-reliant in the workplace. | + | This piece had some parallels to my own work experience. So many workers, whether it is in the public school system of northern Virginia or in the constraints of a company like Sodexho, are not aware of their rights. A worker does not have to be in the clerical field to experience mistreatment and abuse of power by their bosses. But from what I can tell, so many workers are so afraid that they will lose their job, that they don't protest, they don't try to find out more about their rights,and thus are stuck in an unhappy situation. I am glad there has been women like Cathy, and although this piece is from over 30 years ago, things have not changed that much. ~Juliann Boyles | ||
