The demands of the Chicanas were fairly strange.  They did not seem to be quite as focused or realistic.  After reading about the Civil Right Movement, how realistic can it sound for a group to demand 24 hour child care? --Justin Mattos

I have to agree with Justin on some of the demands made by the Chicanas...24 hour child care.  If you don't have time to raise your children because of school, work etc., then wait to have them.  I feel that this type of demand decredits the rest of their argument.  When reading this essay, I had to remind myself that this took place in the United States.  Each ethnic group looked to carve out their own niche or take their piece of the pie.  I think if all women, regardless of race and class, had got together on the issues, women may have resolved these issues much sooner.--LisaM
