| + | Joanna Rubin's story of her unplanned pregnancy really struck me and I spoke to the norms surrounding sexuality during this time period. I think it's interesting that in a way she tries to explain her relationship with Michael as being very intense and intellectual. I also think it's interesting that she says "I wasn't particularly promiscuous. I liked Michael as a person, but I was ready to stop seeing him except that I got pregnant." It almost seemed like she was trying to rationalize her relationship with him by saying that it was intellectual, then by saying that she was not promiscuous. --Katie Nelson | ||
