I found this reading really interesting. I think that the concerns addressed by Sarah Grimke were still relevant to many women into the 20th century. I think her concern with education of women is definitely ahead of her time, so to say. Most women accepted the education they were being given to cook and clean and raise proper American sons. I was curious how a northern white woman came to know of these audacities, especially in an age where there is no media source reporting this, education for women centers around housework, and she probably would not have been directly exposed to any of this? How was this sort of information spread at the time? Was it more just common knowledge? | ||
