| + | I found it very interesting that the value placed in women changed so drastically within only 30 years. After the Revolution, women were required to go to school in order to be able to teach their future sons how to live, work, and thrive in a republic. However, Grimke's article suggests that this is not true anymore as women were now supposed to be there for dancing, cooking, and showing off. American ideals had changed in a little more than a generation. I guess they mothers after the Revolution taught their sons so well that they do not need women anymore. -Alex Zelin | ||
