I have the same question as Landon, how common was "passing"? It doesn't seem like something anyone would want to do because I feel like living a double life would be such a hassle. | + | I want to expand on the comment Kelly posted above regarding how much easier white people had it. In present day education courses covering multicultural issues, they refer to a concept called "white privilege." It is really difficult to define in the context of a story because white advantages are so pervasive in society. Basically it addresses the advantages, whether by manner of speech or actions, a white person has navigating through all aspects of society.--LisaM | ||
