I found this narritive very interesting, especially from the view of the Amina merchant in the Caribbean who would try to catch members from the families of the men who owed him money.  The most peculiar part of this was, "Many a debtor  gave his wife or his daughter-of his own accord-in payment of a debt.  The Negro believes he has as much right over them as over any other type of possessions." (pg. 95 Johnson)  This was interesting because the Negro men in the Caribbean viewed their wives and daughter as the white men in the colonies viewed the negro slaves.  This demonstrates the possible misconception that those in the Caribbean may have experienced about their duties/life in the colonies.  While trading and selling was common among them, they were not accustomed to the ways of the slaves in the colonies, which were more intense and agressive.  Quincey Garcia
