| + | The Green reading about the Bell System reminds me of the readings about the factories and workers. In the factories the workers were basically extensions of the machines they were overseeing. Green mentions, “The TSP operator really functioned as an adjunct to a machine rather than as controller of machinery” (258). So the Bell System found a way to exploit African American women in two ways: putting them in low status jobs, and putting them in jobs that are mechanical in nature. –Samantha W. | ||
