| + | In both the readings and the film, the Africans begin picking up English and Christianity, but in the movie it seems almost accidental. In the readings though, it's quite clear that the Americans are actively seeking to teach them. Lewis Tappan's letter mentions that he spent time working with them over religious texts, and the letter from Kalito Adams mentions a teacher that the group spoke with. -Mary Ann | ||
