I found this article interesting for many reasons. On page 2-3, the article discusses how movies affected the public. Movie producers used films to reach out to people, to inform them of what was going on in the world, and aimed to inform the public and create a public opinion. While I am sure sometimes the film makers opinion could have been askew, they aimed to create more awareness about various things in American society. When compared to movies presently, I believe that movies today are not aimed at that particular goal. Movies nowadays are more for entertainment purposes rather than informational. I wonder if it is possible to get back to that, where movies were entertaining yet you left the movies feeling as though you were enlightened, if just a little, by what you watched? The article also stated that the movie industry was not always centered around money and fame.
