| + | I always pay vague attention when I pass by construction work. The reading said that before the 1970s construction related work was dominated almost one hundred percent by white males. And that number is still high if the sites I see are anything to go by, though I think there are many non-white men entering the field, particularly Hispanics. Last week, when I went by the Eagle Village construction, I actually saw a woman walking amongst the men. One woman. I actually looked for more because I was so surprised (and almost confused a long haired man in a ponytail with woman but that’s another story). I almost did want to cheer her like some women did for Eisenberg. The field seems to be becoming more ethnically diverse, but it’s nowhere near becoming more sexually diverse. I can only recall seeing about two or three women doing construction in most of my lifetime. -- Taylor Brann | ||
