1) It is important to recognize colored women when discussing women's history because their realities were often harder than those of white women.  I agree with Castaneda in that we must examine the complex color lines relating to gender and it is not as simple as just classifying white women as "good" and black women as "bad."

2) Why was the position of black women in history not more carefully documented before the 1980's.

3) Women's history used to only focus on women with merit or importance.  I find it interesting that women from all walks of life were not studied and historians only focused on important women.
