| + | I can only imagine how much joy Harriet Tubman felt, as well as the joy she brought to the slaves during the Civil War. She was like the face of freedom for those slaves who had lost hope. During the Civil War when she worked for the Union army as a scout, she would show up in Southern territories with gun boats and the slaves probably saw this and were so ecstatic. I did find it interesting, however, that the slaves were at first terrified to see the gun boats coming. The best part about this story was when the slaves ran towards the gun boats, completely defying the slave drivers. The gunboats represented immediate emancipation for the slaves, and they knew then they were safe. --- Alex Mankarios | ||
