Overall, I thought that this was a very interesting reading. I have never really considered the history of childlessness but this article really highlighted the variety of emotions people feel about it and have felt over the course of American history. The historical shifts in society's attitudes towards childlessness seem readily apparent, particularly from the colonial period to the progressive era. --Sarah Gardner
