As was discussed in the US History in Film class that Kelly, Kelly, Ashley and I took last semester, I don't really think anyone has very solid background in Native American history. I remember stating this last semester after viewing Pocahontas, but for God's sake, that movie got taught to me in middle school as having valid educational worth. It really wasn't until I took US to 1865 with Spady my freshman year that I got a full understanding of the background of Anglo-Native relations. So much for Fairfax County education. -Cash | As was discussed in the US History in Film class that Kelly, Kelly, Ashley and I took last semester, I don't really think anyone has very solid background in Native American history. | + | The most recent (and in depth) Native American class I've taken was Dr. Paulett's Southeast North America from 1400-1800 course roughly 2 years ago and even then it was a limited group of Native Americans that were studied (I figured the background on ''Pocahontas'' for US in Film didn't count). Growing up, everything else has been merely brief discussion because there is just so much to cover so there was never anything substantial I studied. It was mostly teepees, the Trail of Tears and forced assimilation. An entire semester long class, I feel, needs to be devoted to a topic like this. -Kelly W. | ||
