With an influx of immigrants there was an abundance of domestic servants. As it became fashionable to have servants, the family experienced a change. I think that this is a big transition for the family because middle class families now included an extra member or members, the servants. This certainly changed the role of women in relation to household duties and child care. –Andrew B | ||
