| + | I found the Lowell community of women based on "mutual dependence" interesting. Women really created their own community, covered shifts for each other and banded together to strike and improve their conditions. In response to Ashley's "did this happen other places" I think it was probably unique to factories. Where else in this time period were women only interacting with one another, no men and had to rely on each other to survive? In a sense these women were their own family.--Amanda | ||
