Reading Rose William's story in Woloch made me wonder how it would feel to produce a child knowing that it was to be born into a life of slavery. It is almost certain that your child will suffer their whole life under that cruel system, so it was interesting to hear the motivations placed behind it to try and make it desirable. For many slaves, I would imagine this as the hardest decision they were to make in their lives. --Robert Kopp

I too was really interested in the reading from Rose Williams.  It was interesting to see the slaves view. That must have been awful to be told you were "bought" to raise slave children for the master and you would be whipped if you did not get pregnant by a slave the master picked for you.~~MaryBeth Conrad
