| + | On page 45, Desjardin refers to a collective "historical inferiority" complex suffered by Americans. This is an idea that I feel, represents a lot of the popular understanding of the Civil War, especially in terms of the themes we have studied in this class. Americans were eager, soon after the war, to begin celebrating the big History, with a capital H. Do you think that this idea has carried on, to more recent times, or am I maybe even being too quick to apply this to other themes? --Erin B. | ||
