The scene where the Thompson's are eating Christmas dinner and discussing the boycott was extremely accurate. The line that stood out to me, however, was when they talked about how the boycott showed that there was a connection with the communists. The idea of the black community working with the communists was something that only heightened the fears of the southern whites like we talked about in class. Also, the Theo's reaction to the white boys beating him up when he tries to help and refuses to fight back embodies MLK's teachings. Earlier in the film he is extremely excited to go to the rally and his actions while he is being beaten shows that he truly listened and believed what MLK taught. -Melissa | The scene where the Thompson's are eating Christmas dinner and discussing the boycott was extremely accurate.
