Right from the beginning, they accurately portrayed how blacks got on the bus: they had to go in through the front to pay their dime and then get off and go to the back to actually on. I thought they were going to pull away right after Whoopi payed her dime. Also, they showed how many white seats were available when the black were standing room only. Also, they showed how there was so many people at the church when MLK was speaking; even after walking all day long, Whoopi had no problem standing outside, where she couldn't even see anything, to be inspired by MLK's words. Also, I thought it was a little strange how her son, who was super excited to go to the rally, had no emotional response, or even physical (i.e. facial expression changes) during the speech. -- Kelly | Right from the beginning, they accurately portrayed how blacks got on the bus: they had to go in through the front to pay their dime and then get off and go to the back to actually on. | + | One thing I thought was very interesting was that the movie showed how some whites were 1)oblivious to the seriousness of race issues 2) racists because they simply didn't know or 3) were followers to others thinking. Miriam's husband is a prime example of this. At first he doesn't really know/seem to care about the boycott. However as time goes on he becomes a follower to trends and popular thought. Also Miriam her self starts off as a racist by culture. She grew up in a racist environment and so didn't know, yet as times changed she began to form her own opinions (unlike her wimpy husband, man that guy was a wuss). -Isaac | ||
