In the movie, one of Wyatt Earp's brothers gets killed by the father of the Clanton boys. When Wyatt Earp finds that out, he wants to seek revenge. Doc also joins up in the fight mostly to avenge Chihuahua's death. In class we talked about how the fight at O.K. Corral (really a vacant lot) was actually started due to political reasons involving John Behan, a Republican, who ran against Earp in an election. -Amy V.

At the beginning of the movie, the people of Tombstone threw out the drunk Indian who was shooting up the place, telling him to go back to his reservation. In class, we talked about how Indians were moved off their land to reservations and alcoholism was one of the ramifications of that displacement. While only a small, almost non-existent part of the movie, I'm not sure if it was just for entertainment or if it was just a poor attempt on the filmmakers part to try and have some accuracy in the movie. -- Alex M.
