The movie definitely touched on the '''growing discord between the British (the officers in particular) and the colonists'''. The abuse of power on the part of the British officers was evident when Maj. Duncan Heyward and Col. Edmund Munro clearly broke the promise made to the colonists that they would be allowed to leave if their homes were being threatened. Col. Munro also states that the fate of the colonists is of no great interest to the crown, which shows that their motivations for fighting in this war were completely political and that they were solely focused on defeating the French. --Erin L. | The movie definitely touched on the '''growing discord between the British (the officers in particular) and the colonists'''. | + | I thought it was interesting to notice the clothing of the individuals in this film. While it seemed mostly period correct and they incorporated the adaption of clothing, I thought it was curious that the Huron was not dressed the same. I think I agree with Shauser's point about the film showing the Huron as more savage still than the Mohicans. Despite that perhaps purposeful imbalance, I think the illustration about Native Americans adopting certain European item was done well in the film. You can also see this in the weapons they used, '''even if it did seem a little over the top when Nathaniel shoots 2 guns while running up a mountain...but we won't go there.''' - Victoria Y. | ||
