I liked the point that the author brought up about the differences between the research in movies and the books that historians write. In movies you have so many people doing the research for their specific part. The costume designer looks up what people wore in the time period, while the set designer, actor, and script writer all have their own areas of research that they need to do. After all this the director does their thing and and the movie is made. You would think that with all these people doing research inaccuracies would be caught, but I suppose it's because they're all doing their research within their field of expertise. -Megan Mc.

The author described two contrasting ways of depicting history in film at the end of the article. First, there was the film by Darryl Zanuck, that depicted the characters in the film as complete opposites of what they were in history. Then, there was the other producer, Francesco Rosi, who claimed that he did not need to "fabricate" history, only "interpret" it. While Hollywood films may be more entertaining with less historical facts, I think it's only right to make those films as accurate as possible. If a historically based film has little historical accuracy to it, what is the point of creating the movie? Even if only for entertainment purposes, the event the movie is portraying has lost all meaning. --- Alex M.
