'''''I found it interesting that Sadie received /modest/$5.50 a week for her work. I don’t know what the average living costs of the time were and I don’t know what the average wage of men or women of the time but $5.50 seems quite a lot compared to the women mentioned in Helen Campbell’s piece on Shop girls and Piece Workers, and modest doesn’t seem to be the right adjective when comparing it to Campbell’s women.''''' Sadie used two dollars per week for living costs, saved one, and one dollar went to spend on clothing and pleasure.

I love the mention of the fortune teller in this piece and the mention to the alarm clock that she can’t believe that because “I don’t see who the clock would know.” –Megan Mc.

I also really liked this story. It was definitely a change to read about her social outings. I also thought it was amazing that Sadie made $5.50 a week and was able to support herself, save, and have a little extra spending money. I was also wondering what the average wage of men at the time was. Sadie's pay does seem better than the pay in the piece workers article. I'm just wondering how it compares to a man's pay. -Katelyn Lease
