This article is sad because it shows us how race oriented people were even after the Civil War, but it is already a well known that Blacks did not reach any kind of true equality until the 20th century though. Actually, while I was reading this, I came up with kind of a random but related question: '''In the Antebellum South, when there was still slavery, the slaves would "fight back" in any way they could, including pretending to be really stupid so that they may screw up the task assigned to them, etc. So, I was wondering if this form of retaliation might have had any sort of negative impact after the Civil War for blacks searching for jobs (mostly in the south since that is where such things usually took place)?''' -Kristina.S. | This article is sad because it shows us how race oriented people were even after the Civil War, but it is already a well known that Blacks did not reach any kind of true equality until the 20th century though. However, I'm not sure that it would have made a difference if they were the smartest people in the whole world. Whites were convinced that they were inferior and I doubt that they would have been willing to see anything else.-Katelyn Lease | ||
