−		+	I thought it was very interesting that Fanny didn't know that she was freed till a while after emancipation. I wonder how long her mistress thought she could get away with hiring out Fanny before she found out. I also thought it was really neat how Fanny went out to be hired help one day and learned that she was freed and lived with the woman who told her so. Now, I am curious though, was this typical? did random people just invite former slaves into their home to work for room and board? -Kristina.S.
