| + | As Marsha mentioned above, the Choctaw kids would get very emotional when their parents would leave. Why was this so much more obvious than with white kids? Also like Marsha, I'm a little confused about why parents of a different faith and culture would be so eager to leave their kids with the missionaries. The only things I can think is that the Choctaws could have been hurting for money or resources, or else, exactly as it appears, the parents were simply hoping a christian education would lead to a more prosperous life in the new nation. -erin b | ||
