| + | As much as this correspondence speaks to Abigail's "sauciness," I think it paints an interesting portrait of their relationship. They seem to have a very clever, teasing tone with one another. This sort of correspondence really seems to fit in with the archetypal perception of the era, with everyone feeling empowered by new freedoms, but I wonder how typical the Adamses were in the colonies.
