| − | | + | It's incredible to me how people today still compare families to the families of the 1950s. With everything from "Leave it to Beaver" to "Pleasantville" Americans today continue to romanticize the 1950s and the "perfect family." It's no wonder, though, with the age of marriage at a dramatic low and a birthrate that skyrocketed that there were ideal family households in the middle class. It was a return to "normalcy;" a sense of stability that had been disrupted by WWII. -Kelly W. |
