I took Colonial Biography with Andrew and Celia last semester, and we read briefly about Cherokee and Southern Indians, specifically about their matrileneal inheritance lines.  I am more familiar with the Cherokee Nation and how the US Government dealt with the tribe after the 1830s and what rights they were given.--Joyce

I also have limited background with Native American studies, only touching on it in classes when it was necessary. I think not having the appropriate background information on Native Americans may hurt our understanding, but it certainly should not limit it. I was not as familiar with Chinese- American history or the Southwest, but that does not mean that our discussion should be limited by our lack of knowledge on the subject. - Mary Beth
