Sarah, I completely agree with you on the infanticide topic. Maybe I'm being ethnocentric or too ethical, but when I read Perdue's statement that women lost their "right" to control the size of their families by infanticide, I thought that that was a good thing. Perdue seemed to feel that it was the opposite; another loss in Native women's rights. I'm going to probably start a pretty controversial Wiki here, but I think Perdue is taking her extreme feminism a little too far. - Celia

I don't think that you are either ethnocentric or too ethical, Celia.  The infanticide bothered me too, but it has not been uncommon in human history, the Spartans were particularly well known for it.  And in some respects I think that it is not entirely unrelated to modern birth control or abortions.  If you really think about it, they just waited longer to do it.  Again, that's not to say that I agreed with it, in fact it really squicked me out.  You just have to look at the fact that we haven't really come that far in the last 100-200 years, we just made it seem more "civilized." -Lacey
