| + | In my research for The Searchers I too have noticed the same pattern, as Ethan Edwards upon returning Debby to white civilization does not enter through the door, left to roam the country alone. The man taking up arms to make the world safe patter is also evident in Ford's The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance.
